Let's Talk About Racism in UK Schools
Updated: Sep 9, 2020
It should be Business Wednesday but I have been unwell and not had the energy to put anything together this week - will try and get one up for tomorrow!
In its place I have this that I made for when schools were starting up again. Racism in UK schools is on the rise, not just in terms of institutional racism, but also from kids. In the light of the BLM movement, as well as a year where we’ve all been impacted by Miss Rona, going back to school this week could be really daunting for your black and east asian peers.
Be kind to each other, we’re all trying to get through this madness called life together. Look out for your black and east asian peers, and speak up if you hear or see anyone giving them grief. School should be a safe place for everyone - help curb racist bullying in yours.
And good luck to everyone back to school in the next week or so, don’t forget that everyone is in the same bot as you, and you definitely won’t be the only one struggling to adapt if you are. Reach out to people around you if you need support, there is always someone who will want to help you 🧡
